Building the Base

I intended to build lighting within the base and as such needed to design the base to accommodate the LEDs and the electronics.

I made a series of layers of MDF that would not only have a cavity in the base, but also allow the light to shine up through the layers of acrylic.

The MDF was laser cut and then assembled with a bit of PVA glue.

The LED strip lighting was affixed with hot glue and solder to the bottom plate of the base.
