When I think of Miranda Kerr I think of bikinis and the beach. The notion of using sand for the site is based on this classic image.
The sand dune is the naturally formed shape of pure sand under the forces of nature. Wind shifts each individual grain and the dunes move like eternally slow waves across the desert.
